 Portrait_MaryAnneMerfeld_2012

Mary Anne Merfeld is the founder of BrushStrokes, a Georgia home-based business established in 1998 and incorporated in 2004. She comes from a family of artists. Mary Anne’s mother painted watercolors and her father builds fine furniture and creates custom tiffany lamps. After attending art school in Michigan, Mary Anne spent the next ten years working for architectural and graphic design firms.

She veered off the art path while attending nursing school and started her family in the late 80’s and 90’s. Her passion for art and the creative process continued as she experimented with all types of decorative painting in her own home, for friends and neighbors. Through word of mouth and referrals, her business began to grow steadily and that was the beginning.

For over 20 years, Mary Anne has cultivated an impressive following of loyal clients and a distinctive portfolio that showcases work for homeowners, business and non-profit clients in Georgia.

Personal Message from Mary Anne Merfeld

“Starting small, we built our business into a full studio and retail shop that can handle a variety of mediums and techniques. We seek to do high quality work that can bring together the elements of delicate decorative design, elegant wall finishes and classic plaster applications and innovative distressed furniture finishes.

We approach each custom project with an initial consultation, listening to designers and clients, offering solutions to the areas on which they are focused. We illustrate our ideas for our projects with a variety of 2’x2′ sample boards. In the process of creating our finished product we carefully listen, create, revise and ensure that each application that is applied exceeds the expectations of our clients. Our on site work is part of our routine for custom decorative projects. While much of our sample work is done in the studio, our crew is able to scaffold, prepare and execute on location.

Most of all we see ourselves as craftsmen and artists. We treat each project with the care it deserves and count ourselves fortunate to be able to live and work as artists.”
